Seed the Ground Volunteer Agreement

1.You are a volunteer

Basically, this means you are not getting paid for volunteering with us (although we’d love to pay you!) and you perform all duties because you’re an awesome human. We will provide you with reasonable reimbursement of expenses (See paragraph 5). If anything changes and there’s a possibility we can pay you, we’ll organise a formal agreement with you.

2.Role description and details

We are always looking for volunteers to help us out on our mission and have several volunteer roles.

  • Weekly organic waste collection from our local cafes.

  • Weighing the waste, cleaning buckets and completing data collection.

  • Building partnerships and educating café staff on the impact they are having by diverting their organic waste from landfill.

  • Turning compost piles

  • Maintaining our worm farms

  • Helping with seedlings or garden maintenance

  • Social media management and marketing

  • Grant writing

3.Contact person

You can contact us via email hello@seedtheground.com.au or DM on Instagram. Alternatively call Jess Maxted 0400325228. If you have any questions or concerns about your role, your health and safety, or if you need any help, just give us a call.

4.What you can expect when volunteering at Seed the Ground

  • Orientation and training relating to the volunteer role

  • A safe environment

  • Respect for your privacy, including keeping your private information confidential

  • A contact person

  • Reimbursement for your reasonable expenses so you are not out-of-pocket because of volunteering for us (paragraph 5)

  • Insurance to cover you for your volunteer duties (paragraph 6)

5.Volunteer expenses and other benefits

As a volunteer, Seed the Ground will reimburse you for any reasonable out-of-pocket expenses that you incur when performing your role. You might need prior approval and will need to keep receipts. As a volunteer we can also guarantee you a steady supply of compost and composting worms, lots of laughter and a coffee on us every now and then!

6.Insurance

You’ll be covered under our Volunteer Public Liability and Insurance.

Just so you know, there’s a few things that won’t be covered:

  1. Actions that are beyond the scope of your volunteer role

  2. Criminal activity (including criminal charges arising out of driving incidents), and

  3. Dishonest or reckless activities (for example turning up intoxicated).

7.Consent to use images or video content

Let us know if you don’t agree for Seed the Ground to take photographs and video footage of you carrying out your volunteer work and use it for the purposes of marketing and promotion of Seed the Ground and its goods or services. This may include printed and digital marketing, including the use of your image on social media platforms.
